BESPOKE COMMISSIONS

HOW TO START THE COMMISSION PROCESS

Initially the process begins either with a visit to my studio, an email or a chat on the phone.Together we will discuss your thoughts and ideas and we can view some examples of my work.

Sometimes a client will have a clear idea of what they want made but others dont. I particulaly enjoy sketching and drawing having obtained a degree in Design at the Glasgow School of Art.This can be helpful as I can suggest some visual interpretations for you to consider

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST

If you have a budget in mind I can offer suggestions that reflect that and this can be a good starting point. Otherwise much depends on your choice of precious metal, gemstones if appropriate and the complexity of the design and the time it will take to make.

If this is a commission where I can re-use your metal and gemstones this will reflected in the price

CONFIRMING THE DESIGN

After further consultations we will together be refining the design and this may involve a number of sketches and often some alterations are required. It is important at this stage prior to making that all the detail is confirmed.

Having agreed the final design I would request a deposit of 50%. As this is a bespoke piece the deposit is non-refundable

THE MAKING PROCESS

How your piece is made depends on the final design as different processes are involved from hand wax carving to metal forging, texturing or shaping in a press.

If gemstones are involved then I set all the stones myself and much care and precision will be taken to ensure your piece is perfect and will last for many years to come

COMPLETION

When your commission is complete I ask for the balance of 50% to be paid. Once paid, either I can post your piece by insured special delivery or if you prefer you can collect from my studio

It is now time for you to enjoy what together we have created
